Faculty Research Lecturer Award
|
|
|
The Faculty Research Lectureship is awarded annually to the faculty
member determined to be the most distinguished for research or
other creative achievement. Candidates are nominated by their
peers, and the final selection is made by an Academic Senate committee
consisting of the previous 5 Faculty Research Lecturers. This award is
considered to be the highest honor the UCSB faculty can bestow on one
of its members.

Professor Vigna's teaching style is characterized by two factors: impact and creativity. In his classes he strives, to provide the students with an idea of how the concepts, methodologies, and applications they study directly impact their own lives. This immediately creates a link between learning and everyday living. Professor Vigna's teaching also emphasizes the creative aspect of education: building systems, developing applications, and designing new solutions to problems.
