Professor Nylund-Gibson is an Associate Professor of Quantitative Methods in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. She is a recognized expert in the development and application of applied latent variable models in Educational and Psychological research. In her 11 years of service at UCSB she has chaired 10 doctoral committees and served on 52 additional PhD committees and 54 MA committees. Her statistical expertise has made her a highly-valued mentor in numerous departments on campus. Prof. Nylund-Gibson’s letters of nomination describe her as a truly exceptional mentor who cares deeply about her students’ development as future scholars, and about them as individuals. As a research advisor, she balances theoretical, computational, and applied aspects of quantitative methods in a way that is accessible to students regardless of their level of prior experience.
