UCSB Academic Senate

Senate Service Preference Form

Faculty service on Academic Senate councils and committees is essential to the effective functioning of the UC system of shared governance. The Committee on Committees, which works to staff all of the Academic Senate councils and committees, is asking you to volunteer for service.

Serving on an Academic Senate council or committee has many benefits. It provides an understanding of how the University is governed and offers an important means of influencing the many decisions facing our campus and the UC system as a whole. It is also a great way to meet faculty from other departments and divisions that you may not otherwise encounter. Particularly for tenured faculty, it adds an important component of overall UCSB service which is taken into account in merit and promotion reviews.

To volunteer, please complete the form below.

This can take as little as five minutes. The form includes brief descriptions of the councils and committees, their pre-set meeting schedules, and the work involved. Please check all of the boxes that apply and use the comment box to rank committee interests. Please know that Committee on Committees tries very hard to match your specific interests while also working to create balanced and diverse representation among committee members from various disciplines and schools. In creating well-rounded committees, we may not find a position for everyone who volunteers, but we will make every effort to do so.

To all who volunteer, thank you for your commitment to shared governance.
